Anouncements and Lesson Activities
Chrome Music Lab is a fun way to learn about music.Hello Students and Parents, I have seen lots of creative pictures of how people are passing the time while they are staying at home. One of my colleagues Michele Misco, who teaches at Hillside Middle School shared a great music activity that you can do right in your browser. It is called Chrome Music Lab. Chrome Music Lab is a free website by Google, featuring 13 different interactive musical "experiments." There is not a lot of instruction, but that’s kind of the point. Use your imagination. The focus is very much on free form play and experimentation. This work can even work better with guidance, but it may be helpful to become familiar with it first. If you want to get more serious, there are 13 experiments to try with Chrome Music Lab. Start by playing around with all of them to see which ones connect with what you are learning in your other classes, because there are many. Chrome Music Lab is not just in music but also, science and math. Try these connections: 1.Math and Coding Connection - Oscillators can be a fun way to introduce the x- and y-axes and their usefulness for coding. 2.Science Connection - Chords and Sounds Waves can both be used to illustrate waveforms and frequency. 3.Music Connections - There are of course tons of use cases for learning, music especially composition, rhythm, arpeggios, and harmonics.
